Frequently asked questions

The verdict comes out empty or says the signal is too weak

Move the phone closer to the speakers until the level meter is green, and pick a section where the keyboard is clearly audible, without the vocals or the drums on top.

Why doesn't it detect a chorus I know is there?

Some cases cannot be resolved by a mono microphone over the full mix, such as a long-delay chorus over low notes. The app's “Limits” tab explains which ones and why: when the information is not in the signal, the app would rather stay silent than make things up.

Does it record or send my audio?

No. All analysis happens on the device and the audio is discarded when it finishes. Details in the privacy policy.

Why does it ask for the microphone?

It is the only way to listen to the music. It is only on for the duration of a scan you ask for.

Why are there ads?

Since version 1.1 the app is free with ads. A full-screen ad never appears while you are scanning, and ads never receive your audio.

How do I remove the ads?

With Piano Effect Pro, a one-time purchase —not a subscription— that removes all ads for good. Everything else in the app is the same with or without Pro.

I bought Pro and I'm seeing ads again

This happens after reinstalling the app or switching devices. Tap “Restore purchase” with the same Apple account you bought it with and the ads disappear without paying again.

What is the tracking or consent prompt?

These are the questions Apple and Google require before showing personalised ads. You can say no and the app works just the same; the ads are not personalised. With Pro they are not asked again. Details in the privacy policy.
