Delay (echo)
It repeats the sound after a set time. In synthwave and cumbia sonidera it is usually synced to the tempo.
How to recognise it by ear
- You hear clear repeats of each note, each one softer.
- If the repeats land off the beat, it is probably a dotted eighth.
- If you cannot make out repeats, only a diffuse tail, it is reverb.
Typical settings
From 250 to 500 ms; feedback from 20 to 40 %; mix from 15 to 30 %. Dotted eighth at 100 BPM = 450 ms.
What Piano Effect measures
The time in ms, the feedback and whether it is synced to the tempo (and to which note value). If it cannot lock the tempo, it says it did not check.
